CHAIR-BASED YOGA
Our chair-based yoga classes are aimed at those who would find it difficult to do a mat based class for a number of reasons.
The most common is simply advancing years. As we age getting up and down from a mat can get harder, until it eventually prevents us from properly enjoying and benefitting from the class.
These classes are enjoyed by many who are in their 80s and even 90s showing that yoga really is available to everyone
Other reasons include medical conditions such as Parkinsonism, arthritis and Alzheimers.
People recovering from injury can also benefit from the reduced loads and adaptations that can be used in a seated class.
These are proper yoga classes. There is emphasis on breathing, mental focus when working through a class, and that the class is a whole body and mind exercise.
The classes are structured to include mental and breathing preparation, a physical warm up, a seated exercise section providing a greater or lesser challenge adaptable to individual capabilities, a shorter optional standing section, and a guided relaxation into savasana.
The classes are £3 drop in. No booking is required as there is plenty of space.
